      I really hate this “thing absorbs carbon = saves the planet”. The problem with carbon is we are pumping it out of the ground and releasing it into the atmosphere. Having any plant or animal absorb carbon just moves that carbon into something that is currently alive. This is literally trees.

      You could remove millions of tons of carbon from the atmosphere by creating billions of weird jelly fleshlight fish, then you would just have to, what, keep making more of them? While we continue to pump more carbon out of the ground?

      So, then what? You make billions more of fleshlight shaped jelly creatures and scatter them all over the world. How does that save the world?

      Any living thing that absorbs carbon emits it somehow. Its the cycle of life. Everything eventually dies. The only way to sequester carbon in a living thing is by increasing its population and then maintaining that population.

      This is a dumb post and a dumb article (and an even dumber comment, I already know)
